My First Classic Ford!! After wanting a road going Ford for a while, (I do have a MK2 Escort grass track car, but there is no way on earth that could be a show going car!) and loving cars a little too much, just recently, mine and Dad 's favourite pastime in the evenings have been 'sit on eBay all night' to scour the bargains! Dad trying to work the computer has been rather amusing to me, but luckily he doesn't start bidding as that is a bit too complicated for him. So, one night, while I was out having a few drinks, Mushy sent me a text with an eBay number and saying check this Sierra out, however at that present moment I was in no state, so I forwarded the message on to the Father. He was impressed! The next night, we had another look at this grey GLX Sierra, in Peterborough, this was a Friday night, and with the weekend approaching we decided to go and have a look at it. I got in contact with the bidder and arranged to view it on that Sunday, about 11am. Then it dawned on me that I was going out on the Saturday night and to leave at 9 the next day was my ideal plan. So the Sunday came, Dad picked me up, I was looking definitely worse for wear! Then we started the journey to view the car. In convoy with me and Dad, were Jono, Kel and Mush heading to Peterborough! We got there, had a look round it, I let the experts 'vet' the car (Dad, Jono and Mush) while I was struggling! They had a look with the car and I have to say I was rather impressed and amazed how original it was, considering it was 21 years old! Almost the same age as me!So after about half an hour looking throughout the car, I decided to have it and agreed with the owner that my darling Dad will pick it up the next weekend for me. Now the car is back home, and is safely tucked up in the garage, my plan is to have 'him' on the road in April, once Dad's LX comes off for this year. My plan is to keep the car completely standard, even keep the dreaded wheel trims on much to the disgust of Dad! But, maybe a pair of pink fluffy dices in the window screen. The car just needs a good wash, polish and vacuuming out.I have named the car Gregory as the number plate is 'GEG', which is also on the wonk! Soon to be rectified!!Hopefully you will see Gregory appearing at a few shows this year! Definitely in attendance for Cars on the Green! By Charlie Ruddock Bury Retro Ford Car Club Secretary |
